Inkjet printer or laser printer?

Filed under: Cost vs Value — Sue Harrison @ 11:12 am

Inkjet printer or laser printer? Printing with a laser printer will cost you about 10% what an inkjet printer will cost you. If you are doing a lot of color printing, consider a color laser printer. We at National Laser can help you with finding low cost printing options. Give us a call at (636)677-1900.

Problems with cartridges that stop when still full?

Filed under: Testing and Evaluation — Sue Harrison @ 10:58 am

Sometimes an inkjet cartridge gets a clogged print head from drying due to non-use or accumulation of paper fuzz and dust. Very often one can unclog the printhead by pressing it gently into a pad of moist folded paper towel a time of three and seeing a fill line of colors or black “foot print” of the cartridge printhead. Place the cartridge back in the printer and print a test print and see how well you have done.

If you purchased the cartridge from us, bring it back in and we will weigh it to see if there is still ink in it and then use a mild vacuum to pull a little ink through the head to clear the clog.

This only works with print cartridges which have printheads like the HP line of printers. Many new Canon and most all the Epson printers have the print heads as part of the printer and once they are clogged, it’s over for the printer.

Looking to purchase a printer?

Considering purchasing a new printer? Think about the cost per page. An HP#60 inkjet cartridge with a page yield of 200 costs $14.99. Your page cost is about 7-1/2 cents per page! A laser printer, like the HP 4200 with a Q1338A toner cartridge in it, 12K yield, purchased from us at $75.60, will cut your cost per page to about 1/2 cent!
